With Matt Haines, Head of Sales
10 Years, 10 People, 10 Questions
As InfoTrack celebrates its 10-year anniversary, we’re spotlighting the people who helped shape the journey. In this edition, we sat down with Matt Haines, Head of Sales, to ask him 10 questions about the last 10 years, what’s changed, what’s mattered, and what makes InfoTrack special.
1. What moment defined your early career at InfoTrack?
Learning not to sell. InfoTrack solves real problems for conveyancers. It's about understanding their world and showing how we can help. The product does what it says it will, and that authenticity changes the approach entirely.
2. You’ve progressed through several roles. What mindset helped you grow?
It’s simple: be 1% better every day. Consistent, small improvements build into something huge over time. That mindset, always learning and always improving, has been critical.
3. What’s the most innovative solution you’ve seen InfoTrack deliver?
Smart AP1. Hands down. The ability to read documents, pre-populate the AP1, and flag discrepancies is a game changer. Every time we show it to a firm for the first time, jaws drop.
4. InfoTrack handles a lot of AP1s, right?
Yes, there are around 18,000 submitted daily in England and Wales, and InfoTrack processes at least half of them.
5. How has your leadership style evolved over the years?
It’s all about communication. People are different, so you need to adapt your style to suit the individual. Saying the same thing in different ways to get the right outcome is leadership. That, and yes, I’ll admit it... my wife’s a life coach, so maybe her influence has rubbed off too.
6. How do you stay focused through long sales cycles?
Trust the process. Sales is part numbers, part mindset. If you're doing the right things consistently, the results will follow. It's about staying disciplined, especially when things get tough.
7. What role has InfoTrack’s culture played in your growth?
It’s a team mindset. Winning means everyone wins: clients, colleagues, the business. When that’s the attitude, it raises everyone’s game.
8. If you could go back to your first year, what advice would you give yourself?
Be a sponge. Surround yourself with people who are doing it better and learn from them. Fast.
9. What excites you about the next chapter?
Breaking my own records. We’re doing well, but we can always do better. That’s what drives me: progress, not perfection.
10. Finally, describe InfoTrack in three words.
Innovative. Fun. The future.
